Contributing to the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic, Esmaltec, our home appliance industry, has started using the same technology used in components of its products to manufacture parts for 40,000 face shields for healthcare professionals.
The initiative is a partnership with the National Service for Industrial Apprenticeship of Ceará (Senai/CE), which was producing the parts using 3D printers. With Esmaltec’s infrastructure, the initiative has been scaled up to industrial levels to meet the state’s needs. According to the company’s engineering director, Carlos Eduardo Sales, a mask is produced every 30 seconds. This results in 3,000 ready-to-use shields per day.
“Our initiative, after the suspension of Esmaltec’s activities by decree of the State Government, was to try to help our society in some way to get through this critical moment. We have deployed our best people and resources to make this production successful,” said Abelardo Rocha, president of the Edson Queiroz Group.
